Adrian's warm hospitality and the nostalgic wood paneling made my stay special. The quiet evening outside my room was incredibly relaxing, despite the dirt road entrance needing improvement.

Adrian, the owner, truly provided exceptional hospitality.
Unfortunately, my experience was somewhat tainted by a few disappointments. The entrance to the property was a dirt road that needed maintenance, which made the initial impression less welcoming. Additionally, I was looking forward to a continental breakfast, as promised in the description, but I couldn't find any breakfast area during my stay, which felt quite disheartening.

Had an epic salmon dinner nearby—cooked to perfection! Adrian, the owner, really rolled out the red carpet, including bringing me ice and packing my car. The quiet atmosphere set the mood for a relaxing Iowa night outside my room.
While they have great amenities, I was a bit bummed there was no breakfast area per the photos.

I stayed at the Royal Rest Motel in Chariton for a few nights and had a comfortable experience. The room was clean, with a large flat-screen TV and enough channels to keep me entertained. Loved the nostalgic wood paneling that gave it character. Adrian, the owner, truly went above and beyond. He made sure my room was cooled down and even brought ice when I arrived. Parking right in front of my room was convenient, especially since the motel offers specific spaces for those traveling with boats. However, the entrance to the property could use some improvement. It’s a dirt road that leads to the motel, which felt a bit unkempt. Also, the description promised a continental breakfast area, but I didn't find one during my stay, which was a bit disappointing. All in all, I feel like this place has a lot of charm but could benefit from some updates to the entryway and their breakfast offerings.

Had a great stay with friends! The rooms were super clean and we loved the large flat-screen TVs for some downtime. We visited Cinder Path Bike Trail, which was a blast, and played some bowling at Chariton Lanes. Parking was convenient right in front of our room, which made getting around easy.
We encountered an issue with the reception when we arrived late at night. It took a while to get assistance, which was frustrating.

The motel was a nice stop for our family, providing a spacious room where my grown kids could stretch out. We loved the nostalgic vibe with wood paneling, and the flat-screen TV kept us entertained after a long day exploring local sights like the Cinder Path Bike Trail.
In my wife’s opinion, they'd appreciate more dining options nearby.

The entrance to the property is a dirt road that definitely needs some work, which set an odd tone upon arrival. However, the nostalgic wood paneling inside the room evokes a charming vintage vibe, complemented by comfortable beds and a spotless bathroom. I appreciated the large flat-screen TV for entertainment and the quiet atmosphere that allowed for a good night's rest. Dining options nearby are limited, and the lack of a breakfast area was a miss, but the classic fried fish served at a local restaurant was a delightful find.

Quiet comfort for business travelers
I was there to do business and needed internet, my room didn't get good service, so I talked to the manager and he went above and beyond to hook us up with his own personal internet. Both rooms I stayed in were very neat and clean, perfect for getting my work done.

A Clean and Cozy Retreat!
The charm of this locally-run motel truly shines through! My stay here was delightful, with crisp, clean air in my smoking room. The owner went out of his way to make me feel welcome. For a great dinner, check out the nearby restaurant serving fantastic salmon.
